resort carved out of the wild tropical jungle and set in the palm-covered hillside - yet very close to Bophut Beach.

The best thing is that it is family-owned and run by the local smiling islanders themselves, whose hospitality,

kindness and respectfulness are legendary. They also speak your language - well at least near-perfect English. There is

nothing too small or too big that the staff here will not do to ensure your stay is remembered for years to come. On arrival

they will pick you up from Samui Airport (which has a really dinky palm-covered roof) and drop you back there at the end of

your stay. To make your arrival even more welcoming and pleasant (after your long tiring journey) you will find refreshing

ice-cold drinks in your fridge (alcoholic and cordials both) and fresh tropical flowers in every room. When these islanders

say welcome they really do mean it!

FACILITIES:

All villas have air/con, kitchen, bathroom, cable-TV and are

fully furnished and equipped and all beds are very comfortable and are the special KINGSIZE version - so no scrimping there.

If you need Internet access - every villa has WiFi already installed for your convenience. In addition, with each booking,

we provide an air-conditioned Suzuki Jeep so you can get cracking from day-one visiting the many tourist attractions that

abound on this lovely island. So make sure you don t forget to bring your driving license and camera! Or we can provide

scooters for zipping around the island - instead of the jeep if you prefer.

LOCAL AMENITIES:
Located just outside

Bophut Village. Only 5 minutes drive to Fisherman s Village, which is a well-known place to have romantic dinners. 15 minutes

to Samui Airport and 4 minutes to the large supermarkets Tesco Lotus and Big C. There you will also find shops, spas, the

cinema, hospital, restaurants.

The local Bophut Beach (3-minutes away) is fairly quiet whereas Chaweng Beach (15-

minutes away) is more crowded and bustling. Whatever you want though, it is never far away. Please check out our bargain-

WANT PEACE AND QUIET? We guarantee that Shangri La Resort is the quietest and most peaceful resort on The Isle of

Smiles, where you are surrounded with beautiful tropical gardens in which you can relax and read your favourite book or just

sunbathe in privacy. The resort is entirely suitable for those who like to live secluded lives in a peaceful environment

completely unknown to the noisy outside world and hidden away in the cool hills of Bophut where the days are truly lazy and

*Notes

from OnlyInSamui : the main differences between staying in a resort villa rather than a privately-owned villa are, firstly:

booking costs normally work out cheaper because of economy of scale where more guests and small parties can be catered for.

Also on a resort you are not isolated from other people and you have full-time staff on hand daily who change the linen and

keep your villa generally tidy and spotless. You also get to meet other relaxing holidaymakers with whom you can have a chat

and share your experiences. Not all private villas have pools cleaned daily but at Shangri La you can lounge around the sun

deck area or swim in our crystal clear pool (cleaned daily) and which has easy access to all guests. As with any private

villa, here you can buy food locally and cook it yourself - or you can eat out or have it delivered to your villa. Also

just like a private villa, you have your own set of keys so that you can come and go whenever you like. Best of all, you

still have complete privacy to do your own individual thing, whether you want to party every night, read and relax or just

sit back and watch TV or go on the Internet. Normally with a private villa you do not get a vehicle thrown in with the deal -

but all Shangri La bookings come complete with a Suzuki Jeep included in the price.

Everything else though - is just

like renting a private villa!
